Line up hours, materials and a deposit, and see the total — with a flat late fee, never interest.
The formula
Subtotal = hours × rate + materials · Total = subtotal − discount · Deposit = total × deposit % · Late payment adds a flat fee, never interest
Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Hours the project takes | $40.00 |
| Your hourly rate | $75.00 |
| Materials, licences or third-party costs | $200.00 |
| Discount offered (optional) | $10.00% |
| Deposit requested | $50.00% |
| Flat late fee (if paid late) | $50.00 |
| Output | Value |
|---|---|
| Labour | $3,000.00 |
| Materials | $200.00 |
| Subtotal | $3,200.00 |
| Discount (10%) | − $320.00 |
| Deposit (50%) | $1,440.00 |
| Balance on delivery | $1,440.00 |
| If paid late (flat fee) | $2,930.00 |
| Effective rate after discount | $67.00/h |
Things worth knowing
- The effective rate row shows what your hourly rate becomes once the discount is applied — usually lower than you think.
- Deposits protect the project, not the client relationship: they are normal practice for solo operators.
- Late fees are flat by design. Charging interest on a late invoice is excluded from this site's tools.
